While news orgs are often dealing with the issue of not having enough visual content to fill out a short-form video, entertainment and broadcast teams often find themselves drowning in too much content to sort through. When paired with a third-party production company or an in-house editor, I'm able to identify the "nugget" among a sea of great moments that will resonate best with social audiences and craft a great — if not brief — story to maximize shares and sentiment for the brand. These are examples of a quick-turn news item (the Joanna Gaines baby announcement was concepted [ha] and posted in within hours), a compilation of fan favorite moments (Josh Gates is known among fans for his "Oh my god!" catchphrases) and a trailer for a new season of an HGTV show.

I have yet to receive any kind of formal training with regard to video editing, but thanks to countless late nights with iMovie in college and a few patient video editors showing me the basics , I've been able to slowly (and quickly?) work my way around several programs, including Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. While my skills are still at the most basic level, I'm able to correct minor issues and create simple, short-form videos on the fly for use on social and site.
